A little about us!
I’m Andy Nickless, from The Working Sheepdog Website. I was born and brought up on a farm in Worcestershire, England.
My wife, Gill Watson and I, have been helping people to train their dogs for over 20 years now. We began making our first sheepdog training video in 2008. In 2012, we started making the videos available to watch online. And now we’re proud that people all over the world are training their dogs on stock, using our online tutorials.
Get connected and train your dog
If you’ve got an internet connection, even a fairly weak one you can watch our videos for as little as ten pounds a month or even less if you sign up for a year.

You don’t need to download an app.
The videos are formatted to play even if your signal’s weak but if you don’t have any Internet signal at all most of the tutorials are available on DVD, from the website.

How we can help you train your dog to work livestock
Training a sheepdog relies on the dog’s herding instinct which can be so strong, it causes the dog to be highly excited around stock.
The dog becomes difficult to control, and that’s where we come in. Knowing what to do when the dog’s highly excited or preferably reducing the dog’s excitement makes a massive difference to getting the situation under control and protecting the livestock.
There’s a lot you can do, before you take the dog to stock for the first time too. Ideally, starting away from sheep, when it’s a young puppy.

The sooner you begin the better. But if your dog’s older, it’s not a problem.
Online at the moment, we have 75 professionally produced tutorial videos and we’re still adding more.
They explain clearly, not just how to train the dog but what it is that makes the sheepdog work and how the dog and livestock will react to each other.
You won’t need to watch all the videos but the better you’re prepared for what’s likely to happen, the easier training will be.

Since our first video in 2008 we’ve made a point of showing typical things that go wrong during training and what you can do to increase the chance of success next time. No matter how good a trainer you are things will go wrong when you train any animal.

We ask you to watch the basics first and then later choose what you need, from the categories and subcategories.
Optional subtitles are available in English, Spanish and French on all our online tutorials.
If you stop watching a video part way through, when you come back to it, it’ll play from where you left off.

We encourage members to ask questions or leave feedback, in the comments section at the foot of every video page and we try to reply within a day.
So if you’re unsure about training your dog, ask us.
You can also send us a short video of your dog training or working to help with a specific problem or simply for an assessment.
Payment details
Getting back to the cost of becoming a member with full access to the videos there are three options for membership.
Pay monthly or annually, with a regular automatic payment from your bank or credit card or opt for a one year membership, with no further payments.
At the moment, membership costs 10 British pounds per month or 100 pounds for a year. Giving you two months free.
You can choose from 13 popular currencies to pay with but there’s a small charge for converting them to pounds.
What full membership means
Full membership gives you access to watch all the videos as many times as you like, with no adverts and the price will not increase while your full membership is valid.
Cancelling your payments
Cancelling payments is easy, I promise, but if you can’t see how to do it, let us know and we’ll do it for you.
If you cancel, you can still watch the videos to the end of the period you’ve paid for.
